Colors Associated with Healing

Green is a color that is commonly associated with healing, but other colors are also healing. Yellow can give a sun ray of hope, or offer optimism. Browns can calm us, helping us to connect to earth energies. Which colors do you associate with healing? Be sure to tell us why you are drawn to a particular color for comfort or healing.

Chakra Balancing

  • I am currently doing a spiritual course and they taught us about chakra clearing but said start from the root upwards then letting the light of golden white light flow downwards and your saying start from the top crown down. Does it matter which way you start? And if so, which is right?
  •  Healing colors

  •  My favorite color is green. I feel so much better and think clearer when surrounded by green. My living room, kitchen, and bedroom are different shades of green. Orange is ok, but wearing it is out of the question for me. I do love pumpkins. That orange brings warm earthy feelings.

  • aggressiveness

It is true and cannot deny, because of my personal experience. In 1974 I was of 22 year healthy person but my behavior towards other person even to my brother was more aggrieved which ultimately come to end on fighting, usually in a week one fighting was must in a fortnight. One of my very old relative's advice to my mother a special color dress. that my mother did the same without my consent even without discussing any family member. Dear reader it is 100% true after wearing such suggestive color dress my attitude become very cool and my educational result show good progress. No fight, no hot talk, during one year of dressing new color dress, after one year my mother told me about this fact and I also relies this change. Dear reader still if wear different color dress for a period of one week, my aggressiveness came back automatically. I hope this color system will be researched in scientific manner and will save human being from many problems. Saad Shibli - pakistan

    My healing color

I love to use greens for healing... and to wear green jade jewelry to heighten the vibration. I have some chronic and genetic issues, so I use a lot of green in my home decor too. I also knitted an afghan with my favorite healing colors and we use it when we have a cold or just feel crummy.

    My palette of colors

I am in the process of making my kitchen buttercup yellow, purple and leafy green. My home's backdrop is a deep camel, and I am finding it needs more touches of color. I have had a peach colored bedroom once, but in doing it this time to coordinate with a particular bedspread, it was an irritating color, so it, also is camel tan. A fav bedroom was a clear blue that mirrored the skies just outside the upstairs room's deck.

    healing rainbow

My sheets as a very young child were of (ironically) of rainbows with fluffy white clouds:) I find healing colors to be blues and purples, for depth and spiritual strength, deep reds for passion- fiery energy, corals/pinks to find my feminine side show, and browns/blacks/greens for grounding.

    Green is my comfort colour

I have always loved the colour green. Whenever I have felt stressed, or depressed or sad, if I am wearing green or in a garden with lots of green, or in a forest with lots of green, there is a great calming that comes over me. I wear other colours as well (blues & browns mostly).

    Reiki colors?

I enjoy to put together the healing color combo of blue, green and purple, which is associated with Usui Reiki according to my Reiki Master. Why purple? Purple is a powerful calming color. It has healing power of blue with the vibrant energy power of red! Purple is the color of kings and queens and it's regalness helps people to want to heal!

Green brings me comfort and energy

My library is in forest green. When I go in that room I am wise, secluded, and calm. My "great" room is celery/grass green. It brings me creativity and positive happy energy. It is my way of bringing the outside nature in while living in a gray city.

    My healing color

I identify with blue. Blue is soothing to me, perhaps because it reminds me of water or of the unlimited possibilities beyond the sky, symbolic of the unlimited possibilities within myself. Blue relaxes me and invites creativity.

    Healing Colors

There is something so healing about a mixture of purple, green and blue for me. Whenever I see a mixture of these colors it immediately sends me into a trance like state (well not completely) but if I allowed myself to drift, these colors really take me away.

    Browns

Tones of the earth, browns, tans, beige, rusts, greens - all give me comfort to heal.

    Healing Colors

My healing color is green. I am a big fan of green and all things green. Green makes me feel happy and healthy.

    Eye Color and Cataract Risk

    Elton John's
song may depict "blue eyes laughing in the sun", but people with fair eyes should better understand the eye risks posed by cumulative ultraviolet light exposure, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).  In a 2014 poll commissioned by the AAO , few people with blue, green or hazel eyes seemed to know that their light eye color put them at greater danger of future cataracts and other serious eye problems. Cataracts and the aging eye:   A natural side effect of aging, a cataract is a progressive clouding of the eye's lens.  While many factors such as smoking and steroid use may play a role in the development of cataracts, they are linked to years of cumulative sun exposure.  More than half of Americans will develop cataracts by the time they reach the age of 80, threatening their eyesight, independence and overall health.

Left untreated, cataracts can result in a complete loss of vision; they are a leading cause of blindness around the world.
Are light or dark eyes more susceptible to cataracts?  People with all eye colors get cataracts, but research has found that adults with light-colored eyes are more vulnerable to all forms of UV damage, including cataracts, uveal or ocular melanoma, and age-related macular degeneration (ARMD).
About half of the North American population has light-colored eyes.
For example, a 2006 review published in the Archives of Ophthalmology examined 132 studies and concluded that people with light eye color had a 75% greater chance of developing ocular melanoma, the most common type of eye cancer and most common location for melanoma besides the skin.
Just as darker skin tones contain pigments which absorb incoming ultraviolet light, dark irises - the colored part of the eye - are believed to prevent more UV rays from hitting and damaging the underlying structures of the eye such as the lens, the retina and the macula.
Conflicting research:  Surprisingly, two Australian studies published in 2000 and 2002 in the American Journal of Ophthalmology found the opposite: dark-eyed adults were 80% more likely to develop cataracts over the 5-year investigation, compared with their blue-eyed counterparts.
Both papers involved the same population of older adults, as part of the Blue Mountains Eye Study.  More than 3,600 men and women between the ages of 49 and 97 took part in the longitudinal research.

Why the discrepancy between research results?  Why might dark-eyed subjects suffer more UV damage in the form of cataracts in these studies?  To answer this question, I consulted Stephanie Marioneaux, board-certified ophthalmologist and cornea specialist.
"The Australian studies were well-designed and well-conducted," she observes. "But the data about dark eyes may only tell us about that particular population, and can't necessarily be extrapolated to other geographic areas.  Australia is an island with a relatively homogeneous population, and there may be genetic or even nutritional risk factors - because we know nutrition can affect eye health - which weren't accounted for in this research."
How do I protect my eyes?  Whether your eyes are light or dark, wearing sunglasses which fully block ultraviolet rays remains the easiest way to protect against sun damage.  Look for "100% UV Protection" (or 99%) on the label to make sure the glasses block both UVA and UVB rays.  Another way broad-spectrum coverage is indicated is "UV400", which means the glasses absorb UV rays up to 400 nanometers.
Make sure you opt for a large frame - ideally in a wrap-around style with broad arms - because UV rays have been shown to sneak in over, under and around glasses frames according to Marioneaux.  Eyes are further protected by wearing a wide-brimmed hat or visor.
Finally, don't stare at the sunset, no matter how beautiful, advises Marioneaux.
"It may not seem bright, but that's a huge dose of sunlight," she cautions.  "Regardless of your eye color, don't rely on your sense of how bright the sun is to tell you whether to wear your sunglasses.  And remember, you can't tell by looking at the glasses whether they offer broad-spectrum coverage.  Make sure you look for this feature on the label when you buy them."
Bottom line:  Sunglasses are an easy and effective way to prevent future sun damage, whether your eyes are blue, brown, or something in between

About Color Therapy and Your Auric Field

    Color.

     http://buildingabrandonline.com/marketertools/please-report-12-year-old-boy-puts-cop-in-his-place/

We delight in a rainbow, sigh at a sunset, luxuriate in the rich colors of our homes, clothes, special spaces. Our eyes gravitate towards saturated color like moths to the light. No coincidence, considering the entire spectrum of colors is derived from light. And no surprise, really, that seeing, wearing or being exposed to color- whether in the form of light, pigment, or cloth- can affect us at levels we are only just beginning to understand.

Color Therapy Has a Long History

This is no new news. Egyptians built healing temples of light four thousand years ago, bathing patients in specific colors of light to produce different effects. Now, before you begin to pooh-pooh the pyramids, consider these factual goodies. Research shows that a blindfolded person will experience physiological reactions under different colored rays. In other words, the skin sees in Technicolor. Noted neuropsychologist Kurt Goldstein confirmed this information in his modern classic The Organism, where he notes that stimulation of the skin by different colors creates different effects.

    Color is Visible Light

Scientifically, it makes sense. Color is simply a form of visible light, of electromagnetic energy. Let's break it down. What exactly is light? It is the visible reflection off the particles in the atmosphere. Color makes up a band of these light wave frequencies from red at 1/33,000th's of an inch wavelength to violet at 1/67,000 of an inch wavelength. Below red lie infrared and radio waves. Above it: the invisible ultraviolet, x-rays, and gamma rays. We all understand the impact of ultraviolet and x-rays, do we not? Why then wouldn't the light we can see "as color" not have as big an impact?

    Lack of Color Causes Depression

How we "feel" about color is more than psychological. The last decade has proven that lack of color, or more specifically, light, causes millions to suffer each winter from a mild depression known as Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) . Because of the complex way in which exposure to various colors acts via the brain upon the autonomic nervous system, exposure to a specific color can even alter physiological measurements such as blood pressure, electrical skin resistance and glandular functions in your body. And they most certainly can affect how you feel on a day-to-day basis. Learning about color's qualities and putting it to use can enhance your spirit, improve your health, and quite ultimately, expand your consciousness.

    Color Therapy and Your Aura

Color therapy, also known as chromo therapy, is used by alternative health practitioners who use color to balance energy wherever our bodies are lacking, be it physical, emotional, spiritual, or mental. Angie Arkin, Intuitive Healer in Key West, uses color during her sessions with clients, and often works with color during her own personal meditations.

"Your aura is just an energy field that surrounds you," says Arkin. "In your aura, there are different layers, and in each layer, there are different colors that may be used for clearing and rebalancing your energy field. An aura reading is looking at the colors found in your aura. Knowing what colors are in your aura brings you closer to your spirit. If you can consciously bring that out, you have more advantage in clearing and healing your life. It's really just another layer of knowing."

Jasmine Sky, also a Florida Keys resident, brings healing and color therapy to clothing. "Painting on silk and installing healing prayers into the silk seemed to marry all parts of me - the part of me that was a healer, the part of me that was an artist, my love of fabrics and many years of sewing, my love of tropical islands with sarongs being their indigenous clothing," she says.

Jasmine, having studied color therapy, takes this into consideration when working with clients for their custom design. "Specifically I work with customers on the emotional space they want to be in, and recommend colors accordingly. This informs the prayers and Reiki symbols I paint in to the silk. And the silk itself has unique energy and healing properties. I also draw on my own intuitive resources to make recommendations." All this is part of the reason Sky talks to each customer before creating a garment, even if it is one of the standard designs.

Sky also refers customers to, and works with Arkin, in applying color readings to garment design. They are currently working together to integrate Arkin's readings into The Dreaming Goddess Web site.

    Become Beauty: Color Therapy Masks

    The Bottom Line
Become Beauty: Color Therapy Masks are interesting, and certainly a product that you won't forget using. While they leave your skin soft, it doesn't deeply hydrate as they claim it will. I had 3 extra friends review this product with me, and while there were pros and cons for us all, none of us would buy these masks.

    Pros
    • Give a nice cooling sensation.
    • Leaves your face super soft.
    • No mess involved - peel wrapping, stick on, pull off, throw away.
    Cons
    • Doesn't stay stuck to your face in certain areas such as your nose.
    • While it's not messy, it's not that convenient. (As in, you'd never want to leave your bathroom!)
    • Doesn't leave your skin with the intense moisture you'd expect.

    Description
    • A two-piece facial masks that sticks to your face for 15-20 minutes.
    • It's supposed to use your senses by mixing color and smell to get you in the desired state-of-mind.
    • The masks come in a box of 6 which include 2 of each: Revitalizing, Relaxing and Rejuvenating.
Guide Review - Become Beauty: Color Therapy Masks
Become Beauty: Color Therapy Masks are anti-aging peel off and stick on facial masks. The idea is that your mind engages in the senses involved, using color and aromatherapy to guide your mind to either a relaxed, revitalized or rejuvenated state. You simply peel off the piece of paper and place the first piece on your forehead and the second piece on the bottom half of your face. Leave on for 15-20 minutes and you'll have softer, smoother skin.

     Color Psychology

Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions. - Pablo Picasso

Do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does the color blue make you feel calm and relaxed? Artists and interior designers have long understood how color can dramatically affect moods, feelings, and emotions. It is a powerful communication tool and can be used to signal action, influence mood, and cause physiological reactions. Certain colors have been associated with increased blood pressure, increased metabolism, and eyestrain.

"Given the prevalence of color, one would expect color psychology to be a well-developed area," note researchers Andrew Elliot and Markus Maier. "Surprisingly, little theoretical or empirical work has been conducted to date on the influence of color on psychological functioning, and the work that has been done has been driven mostly by practical concerns, not scientific rigor."
Despite the general lack of research in this area, the concept of color psychology has become a hot topic in marketing, art, design, and other areas. Much of the evidence in this emerging area is anecdotal at best, but researchers and experts have made a few important discoveries and observations about the psychology of color and the effect it has on moods, feelings, and behaviors.
Of course, your feelings about color are often deeply personal and rooted in your own experience or culture. For example, while the color white is used in many Western countries to represent purity and innocence, it is seen as a symbol of mourning in many Eastern countries.

Why is color such a powerful force in our lives? What effects can it have on our bodies and minds? Continue reading to further explore the history of color including how it's used, the effects it may have, and some of the most recent research on color psychology.

    What Is Color?

In 1666, English scientist Sir Isaac Newton discovered that when pure white light passes through a prism, it separates into all of the visible colors. Newton also found that each color is made up of a single wavelength and cannot be separated any further into other colors.
Further experiments demonstrated that light could be combined to form other colors. For example, red light mixed with yellow light creates an orange color. Some colors, such as yellow and purple, cancel each other out when mixed and result in a white light.
If you have ever painted, then you have probably noticed how certain colors can be mixed to create other colors. Marion Boddy-Evans, About.com's Guide to Painting, has an excellent overview of color theory basics including how different colors can be mixed.

    The Psychological Effects of Color

While perceptions of color are somewhat subjective, there are some color effects that have universal meaning. Colors in the red area of the color spectrum are known as warm colors and include red, orange and yellow. These warm colors evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.
Colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.

    Color Psychology as Therapy

Several ancient cultures, including the Egyptians and Chinese, practiced chromotherapy, or the use of colors to heal. Chromotherapy is sometimes referred to as light therapy or colourology and is still used today as a holistic or alternative treatment.
    In this treatment:
    • Red was used to stimulate the body and mind and to increase circulation.

    • Yellow was thought to stimulate the nerves and purify the body.

    • Orange was used to heal the lungs and to increase energy levels.

    • Blue was believed to soothe illnesses and treat pain.

    • Indigo shades were thought to alleviate skin problems.

    Modern Research on Color Psychology

Most psychologists view color therapy with skepticism and point out that the supposed effects of color are often grossly exaggerated. Colors also have different meanings in different cultures. Research has demonstrated in many cases that the mood-altering effects of color may only be temporary. A blue room may initially cause feelings of calm, but the effect dissipates after a short period of time.
However, the existing research has found that color can impact people in a variety of surprising ways:
    • One study found that warm-colored placebo pills were reported as more effective than cool-colored placebo pills.

    • Anecdotal evidence has suggested that installing blue-colored streetlights can lead to a reduction of crime in those areas.

    • The temperature of the environment might play a role in color preference. People who are warm tend to list cool colors as their favorites, while people who are cold prefer warmer colors.

    • Studies have also shown that certain colors can have an impact on performance. Exposing students to the color red prior to an exam has been shown to have a negative impact on test performance.

    • More recently, researchers discovered that the color red causes people to react with greater speed and force, something that might prove useful during athletic activities.

    • One study that looked at historical data found that sports teams dressed in mostly black uniforms are more likely to receive penalties and that students were more likely to associate negative qualities with a player wearing a black uniform.
Interest in the subject of color psychology is growing, but there remain a number of unanswered questions. How do color associations develop? How powerful is the influence of these associations on real-world behavior? Can color be used to increase worker productivity or workplace safety? What colors have an impact on consumer behavior? Do certain personality types prefer certain colors? As researchers continue to explore such questions, we may soon learn more about the impact that color has on human psychology.
Zena O'Connor, a faculty member in the Department of Architecture, Design, and Planning at the University of Sydney, suggests that people should be wary of many of the claims they see about the psychology of color. "Many of these claims lack substantiation in terms of empirical support, exhibit fundamental flaws (such as causal oversimplification and subjective validation), and may include factoids presented as facts," O'Connor explains. "In addition, such claims often refer to outdated research without referring to current research findings."
So what's the bottom line? Experts have found that while color can have an influence on how we feel and act, these effects are subject to personal, cultural, and situational factors. More scientific research is needed to gain a better understanding of color psychology.
